Thomas Jefferson wrote in 1806: "Harvey's discovery of the circulation of the blood was a beautiful addition to our knowledge of the animal economy, but on a review of the practice of medicine before and since that epoch, I do not see any great amelioration which has been derived from that discovery." If we analyze this statement in today's perspective, we can say that great amelioration has swept into the field of cardiology. But we can not say that we are moving towards curative cardiology. In context of coronary heart disease ,Caldwell B. Esselstyn, M.D wrote:
"Modern
cardiology has given
up on curing heart disease."
Cardiological Society of India is a body of cardiologists who are committed to improve the cardiac care and and are now planning for extraordinary preventive campaigns. Curative Cardiology is the future of the CSI. Apart from National body ,CSI has many state chapters which are doing well . CSI -Jharkhand is the youngest state chapter at present but it is pioneer in having its website from 19/04/03.Cardiologists of Jharkhand are mainly concentrated at 4 major cities-Ranchi,Dhanbad,Jamshedpur and Bokaro. Regular CMEs and Preventive programmes have become routine affair of CSI-Jharkhand. To
